About Hedgerow remedies

Philosophy

Hedgerow Remedies is inspired by the traditional use of local plants for their healing qualities. Many hedgerows are rich in plants that have historically been used for a wide range of therapeutic purposes.

Herbs that you might find in a hedgerow include Hawthorn, Cleavers, Elderflower, Nettle, Dandelion, Yellow Dock, Primrose, Coltsfoot, Comfrey, Greater Celandine & Agrimony.

By paying attention to the flora of our hedges, fields and woodlands we can re-engage with hundreds of years of using local plants for healing and also learn more about our immediate environment.

Biography

Kate Sheridan worked as a primary school teacher before deciding to follow her long standing interest in complementary health. She trained in therapeutic massage and aromatherapy at the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy, qualifying in 1998. Since then she has attended courses on remedial and sports massage techniques. In 2003 Kate qualified with a BSc in Health Sciences and Herbal Medicine after completing a full time, accredited course at Westminster University.

Kate enjoys bringing herbal knowledge to the wider community. As a committee member of Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses in London, she helped to develop interest in the walled herb garden there by leading herb talks and walks and by using the produce to make herbal products. Now based in Sheffield, Kate takes an active interest in Meersbrook Walled Garden and Heeley City Farm and continues to lead herb walks and health talks.
Kate is a member of the College of Practicing Phytotherapists
